Offfice apps think the My Documents folder is empty

I have a user with XP Pro SP2 client and SBS 2003 Server. The My Documents
folder has been redirected to the \\SBSSERVER\USERS\USERNAMES DOCUMENTS.
When this user opens an Office application and selects Open, the My Documents
folder looks empty. This despite the fact that the redirected folder
contains thier files. If this user uses Windows Explorer, they can see their
My Documents folder without any problem.

How can I troubleshoot?

Update: The Issue is related to the failure of My Documents redirection on
SBS 2003. I will post in that group.
