Offfice trial 2003, wont recognize product key on back of cd jack.

Bought new computer, cd came with it Works Money 2004. On comp is Microsoft
Office trial 2003. Told to use product key on cd that came with comp. Tried
it 5 times and it wont recognize the product key. How COME?? How do I get it
to recognize same? Is this normal for windows XP?
