Offi´ce XP dev: invalid product key after successful installation & registration

Hi out there,

I got some problems after installation of an office XP (dev) update on
office 2k.
OS is Win XP Prof. I bought it in 2005 but didn't install it up til
now as the project it was intended for did not happen and I didn't
want to corrupt my stable working environment.

Installation worked fine, online registration as well.
Now two days later i tried to run Word and get a dialog which askes
for the product key.
I tried to enter both the product key of the Office XP and Office XP
Dev CD but none of them work. I keep on getting the message that
product key is invalid.

Microsoft Phone Support advised me, that product key is valid but
Office XP is out of the mainstream support.

Waht can I do to get my computer working again?

Solved problem meanwhile.

Reason was a Word XP instance which was delivered with my new PC.
I left it installed while I used Office 2k. Now after upgrading to
Office XP it caused the conflict.
