Office v. X 10.1.5 Update difficulty

I installed Office v. X 10.1.5 Update to my iMAC running Panther
(10.3.1). The pop-up window states it was installed successfully.
BUT, I checked the version numbers and they all still read 10.1.4 for
Excel, Word, Entourage, etc. I even tried restarting the iMAC. No
Change. Help please. Thanks. Cheers.

PowerPoint and Excel should be updated to 10.1.5, and Word and Entourage
should remain at 10.1.4, as can be seen here:

You should double-check your version numbers. Check the Microsoft Component
Plugin in Microsoft Office X/Office. If everything is still 10.1.4, then
re-install the 10.1.5 update. If you can't, that means you might need to
remove and re-install Office X. Insert the Office X CD, then open the Value
Pack. Click the Value Pack Installer. Check "Remove Office", then click
"Continue". Run the "Remove Office" utility. When done, re-install Office
X from the CD.

Then, download and install the latest Office X updates, which are 10.1.2,
10.1.4, and 10.1.5 (10.1.3 is unnecessary). They¹re available from
Microsoft.
