Office 07 with Office 03 shortcut problem

When I installed 07 and left my 03 programs, the Setup changed all my
existing Office docs to open the 07 programs When I click on them. I'd
really like my 03 format docs to open 03 apps and just let me check out the
07 apps with new docs only. I tried going to Folder Options and telling it
to open with the Office 11 exe's, but it wouldn't stick. Any ideas? I had
hoped there would be a Preference setting that would direct this, but I can't
find it. TIA, Dave

In the subject you refer to 03 shortcuts
Is it this or simply file associations?

Actually, all associations. Clicking either on shortcut or file name in a
folder opens the 07 app (word, excel, etc). As mentioned, I tried, making
all .xls files open with the excel.exe in the Office 11 folder instead of
Office 12 and clicked "apply to all files with this extension". Closed
everything up, clicked on an Excel file and 07 opened.

Thats default behaviour, the later version takes the file associations

There is a method of resetting to old version, I believe, editing the
registry? - I cannot find the link right now.
Is it not simpler to open excel03 then open the file?

Thanks, DL. I don't want to mess with the registry over this, so I'll take
your suggestion, if that's the only way.
