Office 08 on Intel -- Rosetta Checkbox Missing?

Was there an option during installation that I missed? When I look at Excel 08 in the finder, cmd-I, I see that it's a Universal application. But there is no check box for run in Rosetta. I've seen the check box for other Universal applications, so I know that I'm looking in the correct place... Ideas?

(I'm trying to figure out a way to recover all of the data in an 08-created xlsx document that now crashes Excel consistently.)

Excel 2008 does not need Rosetta, and has no option to run with it. Do you
have access to Excel 2007on a Windows machine? Will that open the file?

I've had this problem with a few files - I believe the problem stems from creating charts in some of the sheets. I've been able to open one or two on the Windows version, but a couple of the files brought down Windows Excel and even Windows Explorer. (Yikes!) I haven't had a chance to try it on another Mac yet. (I'm running Tiger still, but the other has Leopard.)

I had heard that some Universal applications offered Rosetta in case some plug-ins or what-not weren't Universal. While doubtful this would have fixed the problem, I thought I'd try it if it was an option.
