Office 08 printing Word 2003 Docs

There is a bug or error in office 08. When a document is created in Word 2008
for Mac and you save the document for backwards compatibility for Word 2003
and you print that converted document on a windows machine using word 2003 it
comes out of the printer with garbage text. I've noticed the 08 document has
underlined text, brackets and parenthases. When I open it in Word 2003 it
looks fine. Only when you print it. Now the way I fixed it which for now is a
temporary fix until I find out from MS what the problem is. In Word, I select
all the text and clear formating. The document of course looses its formating
but it prints ungarbled. The person who is trying to print it also has the
compatibility plugin. Anyone know a better fix?

Is the font you've used to create the doc in Word 08 also on the machine
running Word 03?

I have a Mac and PC. The Mac is running Office 08 and the PC is running
Office 03 and have never had this issue. I create docs on both machines and
print them via either, never had an issue. But I also don't use ton of
different fonts, but always make sure they are on both machines.

I'm experiencing the same problem, but with tables within the Word document.
One way we've managed to overcome this was to save the documents in 08 as a
docx. This seems to work. It must be something to do with the formatting.

Oh and to reply to Larry, the font we use is Arial on all documents
regardless of OS. If anyone knows of a better way I'd love to know about it.

Ciao
