Hi everyone,

I have purchased a new Emac and successfully installed office X, transferred
my personal files including the MS user data and then updated it to 10.2.1.
However, I got stuck when I wanted to further update to version 10.1.4 (and
10.1.5). I keep getting an error message: error 128750
or error: 17,-4 respectively, half way through the installation Does any one
have any clue what this means and how to fix it/ Your help is greatly
appreciated.

Hi Bernard,

Did you definitely move over your MUD and other files *before* successfully
doing the 10.2.1 update and not after? If after, I would suspect that you
put something in the wrong place; misplaced files are an obvious explanation
for failed installation. But if 10.1.2 installed successfully, then so
should the other two updaters.

My only other suggestion is to repair disk permissions and try again: Go to
Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities. Open up Disk Utility. Select your
hard disk, then click the First Aid tab. Click the button to "Repair Disk
Permissions".

Hope this helps.

I had all sorts of similar problems reinstalling Office v. X and applying
the updates after reinitializing my iBook. The first time I got to the end,
but Entourage wouldn't pen although I could rebuild the database fine. I
used Office Remover and installed again. Then I kept getting stalls and "I/O
error (Bad Disk)" errors at various stages, moving earlier and earlier. I
used Disk Warrior to fix my disk directory, still got that I/O error when
installing the Value Pack and 10.1.2 updater. I kept using Office Remover to
uninstall. Finally, after repairing disk permissions
(/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility) and then *logging out and back in*
(that's what did the trick), suddenly everything installed OK.
