I have a bunch of PCs with Office 2000 select licence (which
does not need CD key for installs). I installed FrontPage
2003 on one, updating the existing FP 2000. It asked for the
CD key, and I later activated it.
Now I got an Office 2003 pro OEM CD from eBay. When I
installed, I did custom install to replace the Office 2000
programs in use (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access). It did not
demand the CD key (although it wanted the Office 2000 setup
CD halfway through the action.) Then I installed the Office
2003 SP3 and ran Powerpoint 51 times. It allowed me to save
a file, no warnings to activate.
So what give? I can install this cheap Office CD on many
computers with a volume-licence Office 2000 already there?
