We have spent the last few years installing Office 2000to
each machine using the CD. The latestsewcurity patch
release has now shown that this is not the way to install
as we will have an enormous task updating each machine
individually.
I have created an administrative install point on our
server and would like to roll out the install to existing
users. However I was hoping the install would run and
overwrite the existing install paths etc with the network
ones. This does not happen - because Office is already
installed on the target machine the install just stops.
How can we update CD installed Office 2000 installs with
the new one from the administrative install point? We
have about 200 to do. The last thing we want to do is to
have to manually uninstall Office before doing an
administrative install.
Should a patched version of the install overwrite a
standard CD installed version?
