Office 2000 : Administrative Installation problem

B

Bingo

Hi all !

I have successfully created and administrative installation point
with an Office 2000 Professional CD (I only included CD1).
This version of Office 2000 is in French.
I am now trying to apply updates to this installation point.
I applied this French SR1a Update without any problem, but I can't
apply the SP3 !
There are 2 versions of this Office 2000 SP3 : the multilingual
version and the "normal" version. I tried both, and they both give
me an error that "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the
Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may
be missing [...]".
The log file tells me that "MainEngineThread is returning 1642".

Does anyone know what's going wrong here ?

Thanks a lot !

Hi Bingo,

If by 'multilingual' you're refering to the Office 2000 MultiLanguage Pack edition that's a different product that adds language
capabilties to the English Language Edition of Office 2000.

From the Office 2000 Resource Kit (http://microsoft.com/office/ork/2000) be sure to use the 'Administrative' update (regular)
localized for the French edition.

From the error you have it could be a bad download or a glitch in the MS Installer.
