Office 2000 and 2002 compatibility

Is there any compatibility issues when exchanging
documents between Office 2000 Pro and Office 2002 Pro?

Our clients are using Office 2000 and we plan to get
Office 2002 or 2003 edition but not sure if it is backward
compatibility.

thanks,
Toa

I can't speak for all of Office, only Word. Word 2002 has a few new features
not available in Word 2000 (such as the "book fold" feature and style
separators). Most of the improvements however, have to do with the way you
work with Word rather than the document that is produced.

If you want to be on the safe side, you can go to the Save tab of Tools |
Options in Word 2002 and select "Disable features introduced after Word 97,"
but this will restrict the feature set more than necessary or desirable. By
and large if you just avoid using features you know to be new in Word 2002,
you'll be okay (for a list, see "WD2002: What's New in Word 2002?" at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=288725).
