Can you be a bit more specific on what is changing in the documents?
If it's on a different computer keep in mind that Word is text reflow
software and will expect the same fonts to be installed on the other
computer, plus if the printer type is different it will 'reflow' the
text normally to match the new printer.
If you're applying 'direct' (paint on) formatting rather than using
Word styles you may see even more 'changes'.

i am finding that when i open word files created in office
2000 with office 2003 the formatting gets all screwed up.
