Office 2000 and office XP

My operating systyem in 2000 professional

I recently tried to uninstall office 2000 from the control
panel. After completion the constrol panel add/remove
still showed it to be there.

I upgraded to offcie xp.

Everytime I run an office pgm say Word the windows
installer is invoked.

Office 2000 is still on the machine in control panel and
all of its files. It is also listing several places in
the regedit file.

How do I get Office 2000 completly off the machine?
How do I get Office xp to stop invoking the installer?

Dear Ted,

Thank you for your posting.

According to your post, you want to completely remove Office 2000 and then
stop invoking the installer.

If I have misunderstood your concern please don't hesitate to let me know.

I suggest that you perform the following steps:

1. Please temporarily remove Office XP from Add/Remove Programs.

2. Download and Install Eraser2000 from:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/office2000/Utility/3.0/WIN98MeXP/EN-U
S/Eraser2k.exe

Note: ERASER 2000 is a utility that helps you completely remove Microsoft
Office 2000 files and is available by free download. This utility is
designed to run after you run the Setup program for Office 2000 and click
Remove All to remove Office.

3. Run Eraser 2000 tool, after that, reboot the computer.

4. Install Office XP to a folder other than C:\Program Files. For example,
C:\Office XP, after that, reboot computer to test the situation.

Hope it help!

Sincerely,

Thank you for the eraser2000 idea. Unfortunately it did
not work.

I tried several times but the uninstaller for 2000 SR
Premium from within control panel followed by running the
eraser (even with the agressive /a switch) leaves 2000 SR
premium on the system.

It can be viewsed from the uninstall in control panel and
its files are still in \program files\microsoft office\.

Running the uninstaller several times doesn't change the
situtation.

During the Office XP install, I am prompted to upgrade and
later during the process I am further prompted for the old
2000 SR Premium disk.

Thank you
Ted
