Office 2000 Assistant with Win XP

I personally "killed Clippy" on my machines with XP and
Office 2K. Here's the pickle. My other half wants to keep
the assistant, which is ok by me. She's using the
character "Links" the cat and he is cute. But, she wants
to have it on the desktop at all times independant of
Office programs. Is this possible? I did some
experimenting and struck out. The only thing I could see
running extra when the assistant is on is "agentSvr.exe"
and running this file produces no results.

1. Either you resurrect Clippit or leave him buried. You can't have it
both ways.

2. Windows does not use the Office Assistants. You can try using the
Microsoft Agent characters available on the Microsoft Agent page or the
Agentry Ring. I personally like Peedy. Read the information there about
general availability of the agent characters in programs other than Office.

Milly,

I should've been more specific. My wife wants the
assistant running on her computer at alltimes (even when
office is closed). I know that Windows does not use the
assistant. If it did, there wouldn't be a question at
all.
What I want to know is how, if possible, can the
assistant be made to run with the Win XP GUI for just the
sake of the animation? The tips portion is not needed
unless Office is running.
I've looked through the Office home page, the user's
groups and, knowledge base with no results.

As I said, it does not run with Windows. See the Agents option if you want
a character running in Windows applications.

In order for it to run without Office open, it would need to be a Windows
application. Microsoft Agent has characters (see the Microsoft Agent Home
page) that will run with non-Office, i.e.g, Windows applications.
