Office 2000 Clipboard doesn't paste to newly opened applications

Office 2000 will not allow me to copy and paste text from, for example Word
to Power Point, without first opening the Power Point app. That is, if I
select and copy Word text before opening Power Point, I cannot paste the
text. I must open Power Point and then select and copy the Word text.

Works fine for me. Do you have some sort of AddIn in PowerPoint that clears
the clipboard on opening?
