office 2000- closes when opening network drive

I OPEN EXCEL-OUTLOOK-WORD AND I GO FILE>OPEN...WHEN I TRY TO OPEN A FILE FROM A PARTICULAR NETWORK DRIVE THE RESULT IS TO CLOSE THE APPLICATION.. THIS HAPPENS ONLY TO A SPECIFIC NETWORK DRIVE
OUR SERVERS ARE IN A MIXED MODE WINNT 4.0 AND WINDOWS 2000 ADVANCED SERVER!!

do u think something's wrong with Office patches?

As files open OK on other drives (by your post) the problem seems to be
either the server or the connected drive configuration.
