Office 2000 CR-1 crashes with Windows XP

My Office works on a Dell desktop and an HP laptop, but crashes on a Dell
laptop. Dell has checked hardware. Sometimes it works for a while, but
eventually I have to uninstall and reinstall. The last time I did that it
won't work at all. I get a message saying it has encountered an error and
must shut down. Also happens in Excel. Dell says it's not compatible with XP,
but it works on 2 other computers so it seems Dell is the problem.
I cannot trust my laptop anymore.
