Office 2000 File Save As

One of my co-workers is using Office 2000 Pro on XP
operating system. When she opens a file and tries to save
it as another file name, it will not let her save unless
she has a blank document open within the program at that
time. So, each time she wants to save a file as something
else, she must first open up a blank Word or Excel
document. Anyone heard of this or know of a fix?
