Office 2000 Install Errors

I am trying to install Office 2000 on my new computer with XP home edition. I
was using it on my old windows 98 computer with no problems but when I try
installing on the new computer I get installer errors. The programs seem to
install OK but at a later date some messages pop up and Office uninstalls
itself!!

I have tried disabling Norton anti-Virus but no change. Any ideas?

Hi, JackH12345:

You'll want to post back with more information, such as what the installer
errors are, and what the popup messages say. That may help someone
diagnose.

Also, if Office 2000 came pre-installed on the other computer, you will
probably need to get support from the original equipment manufacturer,
because it may not be licensed to run on a different computer.

Thank you, Susan, for your reply.

My Office is working OK now except that some things such as help files are not
install.

I thought I had saved the text of error messages but couldn't find it. If I
run across it or I reinstall, I will post the error messages.

Today I found that all my Office 2000 application had disappeared from my
computer! They must have been uninstalled automatically. But it gave me an
opportunity to reinstall and to copy down the error messages this time.

"The installation appeared to be going fine but stopped with this message:

"Installer terminated prematurely." Clicking OK took me to this message:

"Internal Error 3755. Please contact Product Support for assistance" Clicking
OK took me to this message:

"Installation ended prematurely because of an error." Clicking OK took me to
this message:

"Error Tahoma is not present. To restore it click Detect and Repair on the
Help menu."

At this point all applications seemed to work. But clicking on a Help menu
produced:

"Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office 2000 Premium." Clicking
OK took me to this message:

"Installer terminated prematurely." Clicking OK got me into another cycle to
above message. So I used Control-Alt-Delete to quit program.

The applications work now…just like before…until it uninstalls again.

I hope you can find the problem but I am beginning to think I need to buy
Office 2003 and hope I can install that.

Thanks for the details.

Are you sure it's not an error "2755" instead of "3755"? If it's 2755, see
if this helps:

217714 - OFF2000: Setup Appears to Stop Responding, Followed by Internal
Error 2336 or 2755:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;217714&Product=ofw2k

Was this pre-installed on your previous Windows 98 computer by the original
equipment manufacturer? If so, you may not be able to install it on your
new computer. The terms of your license agreement may prohibit moving it to
another computer. If it was pre-installed, you'll want to contact the
original equipment manufacturer ("OEM") who provided you the copy of Office,
because they are responsible for supporting it.

Can you check your Windows fonts folder to see if the Tahoma font is in
there?

After you get the Tahoma error, did you try the "Detect and Repair" that the
message suggested?
