Office 2K install on NT4 w/ SP6a stalls. The initial part
of the install goes fine. On the reboot the MSIExec does
launch successfully and is noted in the first install log.
However, install seems to stall on the "Finishing Microsoft
Office 2000 Setup" progress bar. The progress bar
consistantly stops around 40% of it's overall length. The
MSIExec install log shows the following lines prior to
stalling out:
Action start 16:53:52: InstallFinalize.
Action 16:53:52: RegisterTypeLibraries. Registering type
library
Info 1912. Could not unregister type library for file
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\EXCEL9.OLB.
Contact your support personnel.
Action 16:53:53: SelfRegModules. Registering modules
Again, this is the last bit of info logged. The task mgr.
shows multiple instances of MSIExec.exe under process list.
There was an MS article that suggested changeing the system
credentials... did that no help. Another aritcle suggested
using a MS utility to unistall Office 97 first... no dice.
Tried removing registry keys related to office following
it's removal. I've tried so many things its ridiculous and
I could use some input on this issue.
Thanks in advance,
Aaron
