OFFICE 2000 INSTALL

When I tried to reinstall my Office 2000, I get the
following: The Windows Installer Service could not be
accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in
safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly
installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.

Can someone please tell me how I can "correct" my Windows
Installer? My OS is Win 2000 Pro, SP3. I was able to
install it before and now, not only can I not install
Office, but alot of my other programs as well.

I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter.
Otherwise, I'll just reformat my hard drive and reinstall
Win 2000 if I have to. Thanks.

Your Windows Installer a program that installs all other
programs is obviously not working...do a search on the
microsoft lnowledge base...otherwise the best option is to
reinstall the operating system...there is no real need to
reformat...
