Office 2000 installation failure

Upgraded a Dell XPS P2 550 with 256M RAM from W98 SE to W
XP Pro and then tried to install Office 2000 Pro as my
first app. Installation started to load files, but then
stopped and would not proceed. Tried Office installation
again, same result. Third time, same. Other apps have
installed and operate normally. What should I be looking
for?

What errors do you receive? Have you tried copying the Office 2000 disk to
the hard drive and installing from there?
