Office 2000 installation update unsuccessful service pak 3

I had windows 98 up until yesterday, and I had the same problem with that as
I am now with xp. I was told that if I got xp that I would be able to
download this update, but it is doing the same thing. When I go to
add/remove to fix it, it won't let me. It has affect my outlook the most,
and that is why I wanted this update. I have been using outlook express, and
much prefer the outlook. If anyone has any ideas that I could try, I would
appreciate it. Thanks.

Could you give some more specifics on the problem. When is it failing?
Have you tried the troubleshooting guide for Office Update?

If everything else fails the painful but solution that often works is to
uninstall and reinstall Office. You shouldn't have any problems applying
SP3 after that.
