Office 2000 License

Greetings from Serbia,

with my friends I developed database in Access 2000, now, since if we
install only Access Runtime a lot of that will not work, so we decided to
install office completely, on all machines. Now my question is do we have to
buy office 2000 Standard for all machines? Or, is there version of office
2000 that we can install on all machines.

Thank you in advance,
Stefan.

If you developed the Access based app as a standalone executable, using the
Developers app, it should run using the Access runtime. If you received
errors whilst running on some systems, are you sure that MDAC and or Jet was
installed correctly?
If however you developed the db using only Access you will need to install a
licenced version of Access in all systems.

Thank you for your answer,

I don't receive errors, right click on mouse does not work (filtering), and
I found piece of code which put color on a focused text box in a continus
form, it is using character U, it look good in a full Access but in runtime
instead of clear color I see thar character. So , I am affraid that I will
have more problems, and I don't have time...
If however you developed the db using only Access you will need to install a
licenced version of Access in all systems.

I can buy only Access? This mean that I will need to buy Access for every
computer? I don't understand what is difference between OEM and Retail
version?

Again, thank you in advance,
Stefan.

An OEM copy is licensed only for the system it sold with, a retail version
is licenced to the owner, for installation, or reinstallation, on any single
system.

On re reading your origonal post, it seems you may have been saying the
application works correctly if it is installed on a system that has Office
2000 standard installed.
Since the Office2K std, doesnot have the Access app. that would tend to
indicate some other problem.
Try installing the component checker

I also recollect that an Access2K db, developed in Win2K may have a
different appearance if run on a WinXP system

I was scared that we will have to buy office for all computers. We want our
db to be cheaper as much as possible, also we wanted to install it quick,
and if any change is neccessary we want to do it quick, otherwise we will
not survive here... I guess we can't have it both.

I said standard because I saw that it is cheapest, but after I realized that
there is no access in Standard edition, now I saw there is only access 2000
for 89.88$ I guess that this is best solution.

My problem is that I saw that user interface is different on Win98 machines,
but basic problem is that right click does not work (filtering is our main
thing). I have received from ADF (American Development Foundation) free
Win2000 and Office 2000 License, as humanitarian help, but now I work on two
projects at the same time. I don't have much time, I am using everything
what Access offer me, and if I had to code it again, I will loose time,
which I don't have...

As group Queen said once:
Show must go on...

Thank you very, very much for your help, I couldn't find it on the Internet
these informations, it is much easily when you have someone to help you.
Stefan.

A last point if using the Access developers app to create yr app as a
standalone exe, it may be that when installed on other systems MDAC, on
these other systems is not the correct version. Depending which installation
app you are using to package your app, these installation apps have the
ability to examine a system and if neccessary install the correct version of
MDAC.
Regarding you right click problem on win98 you could allways use a key
combination to activate a filter window, using the curser location (ie what
field the curser is in) to code yr filter
