Office 2000 "Look In" pull down Long delay

Shaun

When using Office documents in Office 2000 recently I have a problem when I
go to open a file, and I have to use the "Look In" pull down to find a file
in a different directory, there is a long pause, perhaps 40-50 seconds before
the pull down will let me browse directories.
Any suggestions for a fix. It's not related to network slowness, my computer
is otherwise running quickly, windows explorer is snappy as are all other
programs, seems to be specific to Office.
We did have an installation of Symantec Client Security done a few months
ago, not sure if that is relevant.

Usual reason is there is a "disconnected" mapped drive. The system is
waiting for that drive to respond and finally times out and THEN you get
your list. Remove the mapping to the unconnected drive and things will
go back to normal. (Open My Computer, r-click the drive and select
"disconnect")
