We have a coprorate policy decision to use Outlook2003 as our primary
Exchange Client, but to retain Office 2000 as our Standard for other office
components.
I'm trying to create a GPO in the Active directory to do this.
So, I've created install points and MST's for Office 2000 Professional and
Office 2003 Professional as follows:
Office 2000 Pro MST is set to install all components bar Outlook, and is set
to remove any existing version of any of the office components (we still have
a number of Workstations that may have had office deployed from CD)
Office 2003 Pro MST is set to install Only Outlook2003, to remove any
previous version of Outlook, but not to remove any other existing MS Office
components.
Bost MST's were created using their respective CIW's from their respective
Resource Kits
Results are chaotic, unpredicatable and disapppointing. On a very few
installations all works fine, but on most it seems the workstation is left
with EITHER Office 2000 (bar Outlook) OR Office Outlook 2003.
On cheking the event logs thers are no errors recorded, and the event logs
always show the packages as being installed in the correct sequence (i.e.
Office 2000 first followed by Office Outlook 2003)
Anyone got any Ideas? - I really don't fancy setting up Office2000 and
Outlook2003 on 2000 PC's by hand!
