Office 2000 + Outlook 2002 - Which Service Pack?

I have Office 2000 Pro but also have Outlook 2002 installed (on a W2K
system). No service packs yet as I have just had to reinstall everything.
Office Update says that the correct service pack is "Office XP Service Pack
3". But the documentation for that says that that is only suitable for Office
2002 and on. When I tried the "Office 2000 SP 3" it told me I did not have
the correct version of Office.

My question is - is "Office XP SP 3" safe or recommended to use in this
situation? Thanks.

Hi, Steve W,

Office XP contains the 2002 versions of the Office applications. That might
help resolve some confusion.

Are you using the automatic detection utility to let the Office Update site
make recommendations for your updates? It usually does a pretty good job of
figuring out what you have, and therefore what you need.

Make sure you have your original installation CDs when installing patches.
You will probably have to insert them during the update process.

Hi Susan,

Thanks for your comments. Because of some other problems to do with syncing
with my PDA I decided to reinstall again. So - after installing Office 2000
I installed the Office 2000 SP3 as recommended by Office Update. Then
installed Outlook 2002 and then Office XP SP3 - again as recommened by
OfficeUpdate. Everything seems to be fine.

Thanks again,
Steve
