Office 2000 Outlook update won't install.

I run Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer on a weekly basis and update if
necessary. This weekend MBSA said I needed an Office update. I downloaded and
intalled it, ran MBSA again...still needed another update, "Microsoft Outlook
update Dec 18, 2002". It is a small up date and you'd think it should be
there being 4 yrs old. Well it won't install; I get 'installation
unsuccessful' every time and I've tried all the suggestions. I could use some
wise words if anyone has some. Thanks,
Joe Abby

See "Installing today's Office 2000 security update (KB892842)" and many
other newsgroup threads. It is a common problem.

Phillip,
Thank you for the info. Although I don't understand all this, there is
enough info to assure me this is a MS problem and appears to be one of
'update detection' rather than 'file corruption'. Let's hope Millie will stay
with this and bug her folks to fix it.
Thanks for taking the time to point me in the right direction.

No problems! It's frustrating, I know. The good thing is that I don't
use Outlook 2000, so it doesn't affect me. However, I find it funny that
this comes up for me.

Philip,
I ran MBSA again yesterday and all is now OK, so it appears as though
someone has fixed the problem. ??????
Thanks, again,
Joe A
