Office 2000 Paste Special (Formatted RTF) Truncates

Steve Needham

When copying from a cell in XL and pasting to Word, PowerPoint or WordPad by selecting PASTE SPECIAL and FORMATTED TEXT RTF, truncates any character string to 1024 characters. The clipboard viewer shows all the text is in the clipboard.

Does anyone know of a fix?

Hi, Steve. If you paste as unformatted text, you should get the entire character string. If you past as RTF, you get 1024 characters. That's because an Excel cell can contain a maximum of 32,767 characters, but can only display a maximum of 1,024.
