Office 2000 Premium CD Key

B

Bill

I wiped my machine and installed Windows XP
successfully. Now I'm trying to install Office 2000
Premium on this same machine.

Setup starts and displays the "Customer Information"
dialog. This is where it asks for the 25 character CD
Key located on the Yellow sticker on the jewel case. The
format of this key is:

XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX

But my jewel case has the older style CD Key in the
format:

XXX-XXXXXXX

I purchased Office 2000 from Microsoft (not through OEM
or initially installed on new computer)

When I enter in the older style CD Key, it indicates that
the Key is invalid. Since I don't have a newer style key
what can I do? Did the install of XP Home now require
the newer CD style?

This makes no sense to me and I'm sure the jeweled case
with the CD Key is for Office 2000

Anybody out there have any ideas?

Hi Bill,

MS Office 2000 is MS Installer based and
requires a 25 digit code. You can contact
Microsoft through the numbers on http://microsoft.com/worldwide
(800-360-7561 in the U.S.) for a replacement CD key.

Nothing to do with Windows. Office 2000 has always had a 25-character,
alpha-numeric key. Methinks you've been storing your 2000 discs in a 97
case.
