Office 2000 Pro

I have a copy of Office 2000 pro that I have been using since I bought it
back in 2000.

I recently had a motherboard crash and so had to get a new computer.

I am trying to install Office 2000 Pro on the new computer.

It has an activation procedure that gives you a certain number of uses and
asked you for a confirmation code. Where/how can I get the correct
confirmation code?

When I tried internet activation it wouldn't work, I tried the e-mail
activation and the e-mail bounced. I phoned the number and the representative
told me to call the tech support people because the installation id had both
numbers and letters in it.

The last time I called it was painless but, then that was like 3 years ago.

The tech person told me they don't support Office 2000 Pro any more but if I
like I could write here or pay someone at microsoft.

Can someone tell me how to get my Office 2000 installed and operational on
the new machine?

Thanks

Was your copy of Office 2000 was a retail version or an OEM version?

Well I thought I'd try the telephone number on the registration wizard again.
This time I got a tech named Pearl who knew what to do. It so happens that
I purchased a display model computer and while it was on display someone
changed the date to February 2000, the time was Ok so I didn't notice.

When I read the first couple of digits of the Installation Id, Pearl
directed me to fix my date and then close and reopen an office component.
Once I had done that the program stopped asking for an confirmation #.

I guess the first agent wasn't as experienced and so directed me to tech
support.

So thanks Pearl and I hope this is usefull to others.
