Office 2000 Pro

I've used Office sence it first came out. While upgrading the motherboard
utilities from Intel [by the way I use Windons XP on a PC] it asked for a
pasword and user name. I entered the a password etc and after reboot, the
Windows request for password etc came up, but would not accept any of the
previously used passwords of user names. I reloaded Windows XP, and to remove
all passwords had the setup Windows remove the previous operating system, and
then reload.

It did that but now I can run any of the software previously installed. One
of them being Office 2000 Pro. It's there but will not run without reloading
from the CDs. Problem is, I don't have the CDs anymore. I kept all CDs in two
binders. One of the binders was stolen from the hotel by the Tijuna police.
The raided the room thinking I was someone else. They tore the place apart and
when the tacos settled, I was missing a number of things including the binder
that had Office 2000 CDs.

So, the question is... How do I restart Office withou having to buy another
set of Office CDs?
I'm technically proficient in Bios and Setup and can usually figer things
out on my own, but now I need someones suggestions.

You're out of luck in this case. If you have some sort of home owners
insurance and can prove you bought Office, you may be able to write it off
on your insurance but Office is a done deal. You need the CDs to reload it -
no other options.

You say it's there but won't run. What error message are you getting?

JoAnn, "reloading the OS" wiped the registry so any error message is irrelevant. He needs to reinstall as Office is now "de novo" on this OS partition.

To Joann and Milly...The error message is: "The application must be
installed to run. Please run Setup from the location where you originally
installed the application."

Thank you for your response. Think I'll be buying Office 2007 Pro today. I
have to get back to work.

Good point. I would still look into trying to get insurance to cover the
theft tho - assuming ownership and the crime can be proven.
