Office 2000 Pro

I started over completely with my hard drive. I've updated XP as much as
possible and am trying to re-install MS Office. The installer keeps getting
a fatal error and won't install. As soon as it starts to install Word
(either after customizing what I want installed or using the default install
list), the error pops up and the installation is terminated (with the option
of rolling back all data for the install or to allow it to continue at a
later time). The only thing I could find out was that there is something
wrong with MS IIS 4.0.

Anyone have anything?

Hard to suggest anything specific when we can't see your screen and the
error message you get, and you won't quote the error message you plainly
see on your screen. Possibly one of the KB articles at
http://support.microsoft.com/search...l+error+iis&adv=&mode=r&cat=False&spid=global
will apply to your situation.

A window pops up: "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This
can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows
installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for
assistance."

This is not the original response, but I can't seem to replicate that one.
