office 2000 problem

Hello

I have created many letters and word documents using above
product and all of a sudden I can't open any off them. When
I try to open a document the install window pop's up and
asked to go to folder that contains file : data1.msi and
run. I have tried to find a folder with that file but file
search does not find it. I also get another message that
the .doc files are not associated with that program?
I can't seem to figure out what happened? I recently
downloaded some update patches and this problem seemed to
start after that.
I would appricate any help as what to do.

Repair install your Office 2000 in Control Panel.
Then install patchs from Office Update
(http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate).
Each patch has its own System Requirements. Never
directly download and install patchs if you are not sure
about whick one is necessary; let Office Update detect
your computer for you. This application will give you a
list of necessary updates and also give you recommends on
the installation order.
