I have encountered a problem with Office 2000 after doing
all of the Windows critical updates and patches. Due to
the recent worms our company went through an immediate
update of all our workstations. What I have found is that
none of my Office 2000 products work. When I try to open
an application I get a message to load the setup CD. This
only occurs when I am logged into my user account. If I
log on using the administrator account all Office
applications work fine. The User account and administrator
account are using the same executables. When I am logged
in under my user account all other applications which I
have installed work fine. I am just having this problem
with Office 2000. We are also on a Novell network. Our IT
department is wanting to FORMAT my hard drive and
reinstall the operating system. This to me is a solution
of last resort based on the fact that I am having no
problems with my other applications. Any suggestions would
be greatly appreciated. I will hold off the IT folks as
long as possible.
