Office 2000 Professional SR-1a update error

H

Holly Bangert

Out of the blue (some time after upgrading to Windows
XP), I am unable to save my Word documents. When I try,
a window opens saying problems have occured and then it
automatically shuts down Word and prompts me to file an
error report with Microsoft, which then leads me to this
Service Release 1a critical update. I've tried to
downloaded the .exe file a few times, but it will not
run. It says: C:\desktop(or where ever I put it)\o2ksr1a
is not a valid Win32 application.
I called the help line, no success...
I've also tried to fix the problem by uninstalling and
reinstalling Office 2000 without success.
Can anyone help a very frusterated person?

It depends how you've uninstalled the program. Make sure that after you run
add/remove you go to the directory using explorer and delete the office
directory. I'm assuming you saved documents are in some other location. If
not set up a directory and move them there. Then delete the directory. You
might want to run a defrag. Then reinstall.

I don't know how you are set up but you might, if you have not set up some
logical drives putting your programs on D: drive and your documents and data
on E: drive. Just have your OS on the C: drive.

Use a third party partition program.
