WINDOWS XP. Product in use for several years. Recently corrupted. Do not know
why. Forced to re-install followed by downloading all the updates. Gone
through the process three times. Here is the message:-

The application or DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3\E_DU16BE.DLL is not a valid
windows image.

Any suggestions please

The dll is part of an Epson printer driver. I suggest that you check that
you have the latest printer driver from the Internet support site and then
delete and reinstall your printer.

Thank you. I suspected a printer problem because other applications cannot
print. The printer is attached to a single computer in a wireless network of
4 computers. 3 Computers have no problem. I set up the printer using "Add
Printer" in Control Panel and it found the Epson on the network and
established it as the default printer - just like the other computers. There
is no Epson Driver on any computer other than the USB attached printer
computer. I have tried setting up the printer several times on the problem
computer without effect. What would you recommend?

Well that dll is definitely an Epson dll, so there must be a printer driver
installed. Besides, Word will not work at all without a printer driver. Try
testing with the printer connected to the computer and locally installed
instead of over the network and see if it works.

1) Thank you
2) Office is up and running though it took several attempts after
downloading Epson Driver. I think I know why but I cannot not explain why.
3) You were right (of course you were) that Epson Drivers did exist on the
other computers from long ago.
4) I have learnt that a printer driver must be present on each computer even
though only one printer is attached to a single computer on a network.

I'm pleased it is resolved.
