Hello,

I have discovered a problem with Microsoft Office 2000
Professional, when attempting to create a Word Fild
receive a message "Cannot Save D:\Word Files\name.doc",
The FOLDER is marked 'READ ONLY'. This happens whether I
am in my Administrative account or a user account with
permissions set for read/write/execute.

The Operating system is Windows 2000 Professional
running on a Compaq EVO 510 CMT desktop computer.
Another message when attempting to access another
document "Microsoft Word Can't Import the specified
format. This feature is not currently installed, would you
like to install it now Yes No
After applying Yes and the Office 2000 cd is loaded,
the response is Microsoft Word can't Import the specified
format Word cannot install the necessary files due th
Windows installer error 1603. Fatal error during
installation.

I re-installed Office 2000 but receive the same
messages.

Help Thanks

Jerry

Is this a standalone computer and are you using Norton AV?

I've had this problem when, in one of my (many) "weaker" moments I've tried
to write to a read-only device (CD-ROM in my case).
Also, it's not a good idea to write directly to a CD or floppy (caused me
grief more than once).
