Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (English version)

Frank

Followed steps to install. Seems not to be recognized.
Obtained disk and did it again. Show's up as still
there. When I go to have a scan of updates done, it
doesn't regognize it as having been installed. When I
down load again, there is not Accept or Decline at the
end of the license agreement. Help, please.

Franks,

You can resolve the problem by this way.

We have seen the Office Inventory Tool (admin tool) does
not appropriately detect

Office 2000, SP3 as being installed when the Outlctlx.exe
is not included in the

update process. The resolution for this was as follows:

1) Simply extract the Outlctlx.dll file from the
Outlctlx.exe included with the

full-file Office 2000, SP-3 download.

2) Copy the Outlctlx.dll file down to the client machine
in the \Program

Files\Microsoft Office\Office directory (or whatever the
default Office 2000

installation directory is). This can be accomplished via
the Office 2000

installation transform (MST) on Page 9, ?Add Files To The
Installation?, since the

file is needed in a global location.

NOTE: Registration of the DLL is not required, just the
existence of the file in

the default Office 2000 installation directory.

Related details:

The detection process requires the existence of the
updated Outlook View Security

Control. Information on the vulnerability fixed by this
control is outlined in

the article:

Functionality
