Office 2000 Service Release 1a broken link

I'm trying to download Office 2000 Service Release 1a but the link seems
broken.

Hi Pfourt,

You didn't mention if you're using the scan engine from
http://officeupdate.com or downloading manually the
client or the full Admin Service Release package.


This page has the 'starter' setup package
http://microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=AF6C8D03-7633-45B4-AB96-795EE656F2A2 for example.

I've been trying this link, but after a while the installation program
demands the "Microsoft Word 2000" CD to be inserted, and this I don't
have, as my PC was pre-installed by the vendor with Office 2000,
and I only have the "Microsoft Office 2000" CD, which obviously does
not include the folder "Microsoft Word 2000" expected by the program.
(All the Office 2000 programs like Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. are installed
on my PC.)
(I'm using the Office Update scan engine).

Do you also have a copy of MS Works Suite? If so, then
a separate copy of Microsoft Word may have been installed
(not usually needed if you also have Office 2000).

Check in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel.

Hi Per,

Generally,

You can backup your files, uninstall the standalone Word 2000
then use the Microsoft Office 2000 item in Add/Remove programs
to set the MS Word copy there to 'run from my computer' state.

In the meantime, I managed to complete the
Office Update sequence successfully by inserting
the MS Works CD #1 (with MS Word 2000 on it)
when prompted for the "Microsoft Word 2000" CD.

(The broken link, however, on the automatic
Office Update page, should be fixed by MS !)
