I have 2 computers -- an old one with Win98SE running Office 2000 Small
Business, and a newer laptop with WinXP running Office 2000 Pro. With the
passage of time, the installation CD for Office 2000 SB has disappeared, but I
still have the Office 2000 Pro installation CD.
I recently checked for MS Updates for the older computer, and was advised to
instal Service Release 1a. After a humungous download and a lengthy
installation process, I was asked for the Office 2000 SB disk. The only thing I
could do was to try the Office 2000 Pro disk, but that failed because it could
not find the correct version of file data1.msi.
Is there any way I can instal the updates on the older computer without the
Office 2000 SB instal CD? Alternatively, is it feasible to install Office 2000
Pro over Office 2000 SB on the older computer? Would I need to uninstall Office
SB first?
