Office 2000: some applications appear to re-install upon each use

J. Weston

Each time I start Word or Excel (but not Outlook or
Powerpoint or Visio), I get a message that says "Preparing
to install..." which quickly goes away, and then I get
another one that stays longer that says "Please wait while
Windows configures Microsoft Office 2000 Premium." This is
annoying because it slows application start times, and I
think it may be related to a problem I'm having that Adobe
Acrobat cannot recognize .doc files, even though Windows
Explorer has them correctly associated with Word. I have
tried re-installing Office, and this has made no
difference.

This did not start happening until after I reloaded
Windows 2000 and subsequently reloaded all of my
applications. I'm using the same hardware as before,
although the computer came with Win 2000 pre-installed,
and the one I installed subsequently is one I purchased
from MS.

Any help is much appreciated.
