Office 2000 SP3 Disk

Does the Office 2000 sp3 disk contain the files for sp1a? I ordered it from
MS, but I did not see any place to order the sp1a disk, and you can't do the
SP3 without doing sp1a first. The pc in question here doesn't have an
internet connection, so I need disks.

Hi, Richie. SP3 includes the SP2 files, but not the SR1a files. You're here
in this newsgroup, so obviously some of your computers do have internet
access; you can use another computer to download the SR1a file, put the file
on a disk (it's only 166 Kb), and sneakernet the disk to the computer that
doesn't have internet access. See
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/FX010383631033.aspx for a link to the SR1a
update.

I was afraid of that. Thanks for the reply.

Hi, I just went to the link you suggested, and read the following info:
Office 2000 Service Release 1a, Service Pack 2, and Service Pack 3 CD
ordering form

Note The CD contains the Office 2000 Service Release 1a update and the
Office 2000 Service Pack 3 update, even though it is labeled "The Office 2000
Service Pack 3 CD" on the CD ordering form. Also, all of the updates in
Office 2000 Service Pack 2 are included in Office 2000 SP3, and Office 2000
SP2 is not a separate executable file on the Office 2000 SP3 CD.
I guess I'll just wait till the disk gets here and see what's on it.

Thanks again.

Hi, Richie. Thanks for letting me know... I didn't realize that the SP3
CD includes SR1a. I always used the SP3 download from the Microsoft
website, and it definitely did not include SR1a.

Yeah, actually it makes perfect sense. If you order the disk because you
can't (or won't) use the download, and you can't load SP3 without first
loading SP1A, they really should put 1A on the disk too. Surprisingly, MS got
this one right!!

Thanks again for the help.

Hi garfield-n-odie,

Well, guess what! Got the disk today, NO SP1a. Guess you were right and MS
are jerks. Do you know, if I download the .exe and sneakernet it, does it go
out and look for more info from the web, or is the 165k .exe complete and
stand-alone??

Thanks again,

Richie

Hi Richie and garfield-n-odie,

I just read your messages and would like to know how you two make out. I
have three computers all having Windows XP w/Office Pro. I did not receive
the discs when i got my computers so I am having the same problem, not being
able to update my office because of not having a cd available. I was going to
order the cd, but since it wouldn't have the needed files either,I guess that
would be useless.

Hi, Rita. Richie and I were talking about service pack CDs. Your
problem is that you don't have your original installation CDs. Since
your software is OEM, you will have to contact your computer
manufacturer and ask them for the CDs.
