Office 2000 SP3 Install Problem

C

Chris M.

Apparently, Microsoft Office 2000 SP3 doesn't have the
capability of accessing the win.ini file to modify it
because it can't find it. I, in my lack of overall
computer knowledge, simply went to Start/Run and typed
win.ini and interestingly enough, up popped the win.ini
file. Does that make me smarter than Microsoft's
engineers? In any event, I cannot install the SP3 for
office 2000 and therefore cannot update any Outlook 2000
security issues. Does anyone know a way to get this fixed
so I can update? Is there a way to make the installation
file find an obvious file?

In advance, Thank you for your help...
Chris M.

Hi Chris,

Do you get an error message? If you do, could you type
the whole thing in (usually just the first line will do
as that contains the words that you would search on).

If you have a browse option when it says that it can't
find it then use it to point to C:\Windows for the
win.ini file. If it still doesn't work then there maybe
something prohibiting it interact with the file.

I have found some articles that may assist you with
resolving this issue however the causes do vary so you
will need to check which one best suits your environment.
