Office 2000 SP3 Installation problem

Steve

Hi, I tried to install SP3 on Office 2000 Small Business, but I don't have
the original CD here and the installation wouldn't complete; now every time I
double click an Excel document, it tries to complete the installation and the
program wouldn't even start. Is there a way to roll back the update? Any
advice will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Try creating a folder called 'XLStart' in your Office10 programmes folder.
This is what held things up for us.

Glad to be of service - pass it on!

Now can anyone solve the 'PRO.MSI' problem in its entirety...

I have all the same symptoms mentioned above, but the error I get says "can't
find SBERET.MSI" Is this the same as the "PRO.MSI" problem?

Glad to be still of help.

Our pc is a Dell, and came loaded but without the Office software discs...

Googling with your 'SBERET.MSI', coincidentally comes up with this link to
the Dell forum where similar problems have been discussed and which may have
some useful suggestions for you:

Otherwise, I shouldn't think it would do any harm to try putting in an
XLStart folder, to see if your glitch really does have the same cause.

Good luck,

SteveH
