OFFICE 2000 SP3 Installed, MS UPDATE says SP1A Needed!

Using MS auto update, MS says I need SP1A installed before
any other updates can be done. Problem is that SP3 is
installed already! I download 1A again, install fails.
Also MS auto update history does not show SP3. Each
Office application says SP3 is installed. Tried Repair and
Fix to no avail.

I'm in a catch 22. Running Win 98. Hope there is a
solution short of a full deinstall/reiinstall.

I've got something similar. I can't install the Jet Engine 4.0 hot fix because it says I need SP3 installed, but SP3's already installed.
