The first time I tried to install Office 2000 sp3, I got
an error msg indicating I didn't have the version it was
expecting. Assuming I needed to complete an earlier
upgrade first, I downloaded and successfully installed
sp1a.
Now, when I try to install either Office 2000 sp2 or
Office 2000 sp3, it goes thru several steps asking for
Office and Frontpage CDs. Eventually, it asks for a Word
2000 sp1 CD and indicates it needs a file named
data1.msi. My Office 2000 Pro disk1 CD has a file with
that name, but both sp2 and sp3 say it's 'not valid'.
Can't find any other cc of data1.msi (ie the one that
came with the sp1a upgrade) on C:.
Any ideas on how I can complete the sp3 upgrade?
Thanks
PS Don't know if it's significant, but the PC was running
under WinME when Office 2000 Pro was originally
installed. Since then, I've upgraded to WinXP Home
edition. Could that have stepped on something?
