office 2000 sp3 won't install?

I have downloaded sp3 onto my desktop, as suggested by
hte update site. When i try to install it it says, "this
product cannot be applied" and if i do it through the
update site it says "installation failed"
I can't find anything in the mcrosft site to help, so
does anyone have any suggestions?

I am having the exact same problem, and have tried
everything (except the thing that will fix this problem).
If anyone has any insight into this problem, please
respond.

Do anybody knowledgeable ever read these questions ?
It seems that a lot of people are having the same problem, but no good
answers anywhere.
