Office 2000 SP3

I tried to update my Office 2000 (on Win98) to get the
new security patches. The update site said that I first
need to install Sp3. I installed SP3 successfully. Now I
go to the update site to get the rest of the patches and
it still says that I need to install SP3. The only info I
could find in the MSDN KB is KB829080 which tells me to
reinstall the SP3 update. Any ideas?

Dave after running into this issue running Office 2000 sp3 on an admin
install, I found the solution or at least the reason why.

It appears that the cause of this problem is that the OfficeUpdate
tool tests for the existence of the version of 'outctlx.dll' from the
'Microsoft Outlook 2000 SR-1 View Control Security Update' which is
included with the Microsoft Office Service Pack 3 (for Disc 1), but
not packaged within the MSI file. This means it is not installed as
part of a slipstreamed administratice installation point based office
installation, established using the recommended technique of MSI file
patching using 'msiexec.exe /a'. For this reason it is nessecery to
apply the outlook view control patch after installing from an
administrative access point in order to have OfficeUpdate recognize
the installation.

Download and apply the Outlook 2000 SR-1 View Control Security Update
patch AFTER you apply SP3. Then run the web office update it comes up
clean.
